Beaver Orienteering Event

Map and Compass

Hi all,

We plan on attending an Orienteering event in Esker, Athenry on Sun Oct 25 from 11am-1pm. The event is organised and run by the Western Eagles Galway Orienteers (WEGO) group. The cost is €5 per Beaver.

For this event, we will be asking parents to drop Beavers out to Esker and collect them afterwards.

As usual, we would like to gauge numbers for the event so please let us know by text – Beaver name and yes/no for attending.

Beavers walk in Monivea Woods

We are planning a walk in Monivea Woods with the Beavers this weekend on Sunday.

The plan would be to leave the community centre at 10.30am and return around 1pm. Depending on numbers, there may be enough spaces in the Scouters cars to bring everyone.

Although the weather forecast seems good for Sunday at the moment, Beavers will need rain gear (trousers & jacket) and waterproof footwear. We’ll also ask them to being a light snack & drink.

Could you please let us know by text to 086 0545329 with the Beaver’s name and whether they can attend or not?

Beaver Events This Week

Hi all,

There are 2 events for Beavers this week.

  1. Circus – Fri Sep 25
The first is a trip to the Circus on Friday evening. It is on in Briarhill and the show runs from 7.30 to 9.30pm. We plan to leave from the Community Centre around 6.30pm, returning approx 10pm.
We have received free tickets for the Beavers and we ask that they be given a max €5 spending money on the night.
  2. Athenry Castle – Sun Sep 27
The second event is a visit to Athenry Castle on Sunday next. The Beavers will have a guided tour of the castle and watch a short movie about its history. The cost for this event will be approx €3 per child.
We will leave the Community Centre around 11.30am and return around 1.30pm.

To help us with planning, could you respond ASAP by text to 086 0545329 with the child’s name and whether they can attend the Circus, Castle or Both.

Please note that with 2 events this week, it means that there will not be a meeting on tomorrow (Tue Sep 22) or next week (Tue Sep 29) at the school.

Feel free to text us with any questions.

Hi all,

Beaver Scout year is now officially over after our successful Beaver Camp. We hope all those who attended enjoyed it as much as we did. Thanks to all the parents who supported us over the year. Special thanks to all the Leaders who have given so much time and effort over the past year.

Extra special thanks to Mick Laffey who has done a fantastic job as Beaver section leader for the past few years! Mick is moving on to bigger & better things as overall Group Leader for Claregalway Scouts. He will be sorely missed in the Beaver section!

Here are some photos from the weekend.

Beaver Camp

It’s almost time for our Beaver camp in Doolin! We’ve attached the camping checklist which details the gear that each Beaver will need for the Camp.

Please pay close attention to the items listed in the checklist below, especially suncream (very important on boat trip) and any medication (which will require completed medication form).

Beavers should have all this gear packed in/attached to one rucksack which we will collect from you on Friday evening at the Den. We’ll text time later in the week but we’re guessing around 7pm.
